Yeah 87a is always in contact with 30 when the coil is disengaged. As soon as the coil is triggered 30 looses contact with 87a and goes into contact with 87..and once the coil is disengaged again 30 goes back into contact with 87a.

    Glad it worked out.

This stuff can be tricky especially if you are doing it for the first time. What I find helps a lot is drawing out diagrams on paper first then going through the function of it in my head to ensure that everything is set up properly. Electricity is no joke. You can easily fuck up an entire harness if two wires touch and they are not supposed to.

Yeah, that's one reason to get just a SPST (single pole single throw) relay when you don't need the NC (normally closed) connection. Still, excellent that you got it worked out, and learned something immensely useful (IMO) in the process.

video uploading. This goes to you Scott Bowman since you love horns. went over train tracks today in kingston, pa and blew my horns while crossing over the guy behind me in a 1980's caprice slammed his brakes on and locked his tires as he hastily wanted to stop because he heard a train coming. I am laughing my ass off as i pulled away. He blocked up traffic to where people where blowing there horns at him is was epic. Hysterical.

if I were you... I'd set up a quick disconnect to split the additional horns from the stock horns for inspections.

unplug them. Quick disconnects ha! As long as the plugs at the horns are insulated, like the stock horns, you can leave them unplugged.

How're you gonna pass your ASEs mang? You gotta be able to learn how to read wiring diagrams, or you won't pass the electrical one.

at least he's willing to learn... there's some crackpots i've run into IRL (one was an owner/operator of a shop) that refuse to think someone else might know something more about something than they do. Go figure... I don't take my vehicles to that shop any more.

You need to be a self directed learner.

I never went to a technical college. But I do have an engineering degree from a university.

And I can tell you that if you wait for someone else to 'teach' you anything, you won't learn shit, and you'll fail out. Professors are there to present material (which is different from teaching), and be a resource when you have trouble learning.

What you are doing outside of work is a great way to learn more. But just because your school does't require you to open a book doesn't mean you can't open one on your own accord.

I know what you mean ... that said, it is interesting how much one can assimilate via online self-study only. It's hard to believe that just a few years ago very simple 12V circuits scared my pants off! Makes me wonder how I ever got through introductory electricity and magnetism in Physics II, let alone pass a dedicated E&M course!
