    Hello from New York

Hello new here and now own my first grand marquis, it's not pretty or the best condition but it should get me to work and allow me to maybe find a nicer one. As a kid we always had mgm's and vics, they were all from between early 80s to 1991 years and were great cars. I'd like to find a older one but ny has slim pickings or there pricy.

This 2004 got some fender rust and a bit on the rear quarter but underneath looks pretty good. Guy said it was a Florida car that's been up here for a few winters. Runs and shifts good but guy said it's got some evap stuff, sometimes it will sound like it's got a cam in it. There's a few lines I see that should be changed along with the pcv and it's line. Believe it could use the canister solenoid. I need to drop the pan under the trunk and take a look.

Car is Arizona beige with the vinyl top, it's a gs has chrome trim and palm beach seats which I guess are out of a newer car? A few switches are missing or loose and car needs a few things I'll replace over time. Fixed the hood yesterday, it wasn't popping up so moved the hood brackets and works as it should now. It could use a set of door pins and strickers to. Ac needs a charge. Car has 174k but runs good and I'll do the oil next weekend.

Found a big vacuum leak at the pcv line elbow, put tape on it for now and the idle has gotten better. Tomorrow before work im getting it registered and I'll see if any local parts places has tje elbow or the whole tube, and pcv, if not I'll order online.

Guess it's factory tint, the writing on tje seats looks different from the ones I've seen and they look two tone. The car supposedly came from Florida. Is it possible a dealer sold there own palm beach edition before Ford had one.

The clip for the driver's door button cluster was snapped off so maybe find another that's not broken, may add a drop of glue or something just to keep it from bouncing around. I'll take the door panel off one day to get tje door code. I should get another fob and key, have a original key and fob but the other key is valet key.

You might be able to locate the keyless entry code in the trunk, if the sticker is there.
These are highly engineered precision vehicles, the first step in diagnosing the problem is to strike the suspected offending part sharply and repeatedly with a blunt object, then re-test.

Looked there already, so I'll pull the door panel off one day and see if the sticker is still there. I need to pickup and window control panel or fix this one, also need the forward and back seat switch it still works but the button is missing.

Air filter was torn and dirty so got a new one today at Napa, along with 6qt Napa 5w20 synthetic, filter,qt of merc v atf the proper gallon of coolant. They didn't have the pcv and it's lines and the line was like 60 bucks so I'll order a few thing from parts geek later tonight.

Drove the car to work today, maybe put 25 miles on it and everything went good. My quick temp fix on the pcv elbow seems to be working great. Only real thing that needs to be looked at is a exhaust manifold tic, I have looked at it yet to see where it's blown out or cracked. Don't think it's to bad a job just hope those manifold stubs come out. Sounds like its on the passenger side.

I may have committed a sin in your guys eyes today, stopped by the local shop to schedule a day for inspection. Shop said the front doors tint had to be removed. I said it was factory but he said it didn't matter. So around lunch I pulled the tint off both doors. Im not a big fan of tint but it was in such great shape it kinda hurt a bit removing it, could see nothing out the mirrors at night with the windows up tho.

Removing the tint was a good move especially that you were having difficulties at night!

Had to do that on a friend's '95 GM. The previous dummy owner put TWO layers so it was so dark it was difficult seeing through during the day!

Ya it was real dark stuff, ripped it off before work today and of course half the glue stayed.

Could use a steam machine to get the glue off. There are adhesive removers but they are more messy!

Windex and a plastic razor blade worked pretty good.
