Glad to have found this forum

Hello all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I recently bought an 89 GM Colony Park for $400. It has its share of rust and oxidized paint. The old guy that owned it changed the oil religiously every 2500 - 3000 miles. He wrote down every thing he ever did to the car on yellow legal pad paper. It has 194K miles on it.

It has dual exhaust and the 3.55 limited slip rear end. I replaced the pipes between the cat. convectors and mufflers. What was there was pretty rotted. It had the auto leveling shocks with the bags in them. They were trashed as were the front shocks. You'd get sea sick in this yacht driving down the highway. I replaced them with KYB Gas adjust and that made a huge difference. Rides great now.

The tires are pretty much shot with not much tread and some dry rot. Will be putting on 225Rx15 Kuhmo 21's. It has the aluminum spoke 6.5 in wide 15 inch factory rims.

I've been using it as my daily driver for the past 2 months. I get 16 - 18 mpg depending on how heavy my foot is.

When I got the car the check engine light was on and car idled up and down when cold.. Code said it was the throttle sensor. Replaced that for around $70. Check engine light is off now.

I'm loving this car. Have not tinkered with cars in around 30 years. The last one I played with was a 67 Pontiac Catalina convertible, so there was a lot less pollution junk on it. Looking into cleaning this GM up.

Anyway, I'm reading everything I can here. This forum is a great source of info!

    Thanks!

And BTW, if you haven't mounted those KR21s yet, be aware that most KR21s are made in China.

Thanks for the welcome guys. The car is from upstate New York. It now lives in Southern CT.

It has some really bad oxidation on the hood and roof. Looks like the clear coat has failed in spots. Lots of white scum on it that is rough to the touch.

I realize that it really needs a paint job but I'm not up for spending the dollars on that at this point in time. More interested in driving it. Besides, who says you can't polish a turd

What tire would you recommend? I'm staying with the stock 6.5 inch wide 15 inch diameter rims.
