thanks guys. im in sacramento. I bought it off this elderly guy that uses it once in a while. He's 102 now and he is the sole owner. The GM has only 35,000 miles. I was wondering what are the major issues people usually deal with a 25 year old panther platform car like a GM. This is actually my first car too.

102 huh? That guy is old!! You should inspect all the hoses, belts and fluids to start with. Change the spark plugs, oil and filter, fuel filter, and air filter. Check the tires for rot. 1984 Grand Marquis has CFI (they are funky normally, even when new), unless it's a canadian version, which would probably be running a standard 2 barrel carb. I would also inspect the brake lines and fuel lines for rot. Also inspect the frame for rotting. I'd also recommend you check the exhaust system for rot holes and stuff like that. Anyway, to the forums, oh and

When the lights are on, turn the switch left or right to adjust the dashboard lighting.
