    Whats up everyone

I bought a '99 Grand Marquis off Ebay last week. Won it at $800.

The car has over 240k miles on it. The owner said they've done routine maintenance checks. The sticker in the windshield tells me as much. The Plastic intake looks like it was replaced... All the bolts around and on the intake have been removed at least once. I asked about it and they told me they were the second owners and didn't touch the intake.

    Now for the bad.

    The car has a dent in the back quarter panel where the guys wife backed up into a pole. One reason they let it go so cheap. Here's a pic;

Also the car had a nasty misfire! it shaked the car like the transmission is slipping when driving.. at least I hope wasn't the transmission.

With the hood open and car idling I could see the engine shake like one of the spark plugs are not firing, also you can hear misfire through the muffler. So I bought a whole 8 COPs online(got them yesterday) and motorcraft platinum sparkplugs.

I removed all the COPs and plugs!!

Number 2 plug from the front driver side was sunk in oil. It wasn't firing at all. I was like 'Got you now!!!

Sure enough, I cranked the car and everything was level.. no shaking. Took it for a little test drive and it wasn't shuddering like the transmission was bad.

Quick question.. How would 18" rims with tire size 235/40R18 look on a '99 Marquis? A friend of mine has a set he's willing to let go. I measured the tire height at 26"

Transmission seem fine after the COP replacement. The misfire was giving a transmission like shudder when driving. Its all gone now.

I'm going to drain my radiator. How many gallons of antifreeze I need? I'll be getting the 50/50 mix jugs.

Nice, I may just need 235/50/r18 tire update. the 40's I have give it a lowrider look.

they would fine if they werent so narrow of a sidewall... like he mentioned above... you need wider sidewalls ...

they do look great. But, you're risking a lot of rim damage with such a small sidewall and such a heavy car.
go with 235/50's. they are abundant and plentiful. you can snag a BFGoodrich TA KDW for 98 a piece on tirerack.com
do NOT go with 245/55's. only BFGoodrich makes those and they are retarded expensive. thats why i switched to General UHP Grabber 255/55/r18's. They are relatively cheap (180 a piece) and i like them a lot! they grip like hell.
plus you can usually go +/- 20 on the sidewall rating. I went with +10.

I took the rims off.. don't like them.

I also found a crack in my OEM rim. Its leaks down but not fast.. probably 2 weeks. I thought it was a nail when I had to put air in it twice since I had it.

I've been told that the cracked OEM aluminum rim can be fixed at a welding shop.

If the cost to weld the rim is ridiculous, try the nearest junkyard.
