hey i bought my 95 gm from my girlfriends sister for 50 bucks yesterday. took it to autozone to have the check engine code read to me, and they told me it was from a miss-fire in cylinder 2 and something to do with an "EGR"(guy told me it could be from the cat. converter being f***ed up....so i guess my question is how the hell do i fixx it? im gonna work on it til my 91 escort decides to take a shyt on me...which shouldnt be long...haha. any help would be amazing!

    Welcome

The EGR has NOTHING to do with the Catalytic converter. Misfire cylinder #2 could be simple as a bad spark plug, or plug wire.

The EGR issue is simple, you gotta remove the elbow that the throttle body is attached to. And clean out the passage. Really easy. Check this thread out http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showthread.php?41370-EGR-ports-cleaning-Procedure-with-Video&p=589647#post589647

thanks for the welcome guys. when i get time ill have to go out and try cleaning the egr port. i figured the mis-fire would be an easy fix, but needed a second opinion. and helll for 50 bucks i couldnt pass it up, even if it was trashed i could scrap it for more then that. i did plan on selling it, but after driving it home i think that might have changed my mind. it a really nice ride, i just dont like how big it is...haha....another thing, ive read a little bit on here, but how easy is it to drop a 5.0 in it?!

Lafayette, eh? Fun ... I lived a half-hour from there for several years.

Scott (Lincolnmania) recently completed a project of putting a 5.0 in a '92 Aero, but that was simplified somewhat by being a "bastard" year that used a normal SBF bellhousing bolt pattern.

If you decide to get something a little crazy, I know a guy near there who gets his hands on '99-up Cobra motors from time to time ....

              Welcome to the Party!
If you have any questions, ask away! There's plenty of knowledge around here!
(p.s.- Why would you put a 5.0 in there? The 4.6L makes equal to or more than the power and torque! Unless you're talking about a 4v 5.0L...)
