    hey everyone :) 85 merc

    Hey everybody,

As my post title says, im now the happy owner of a 1985 grand marquis LS with the 351w. its in a bit of rough shape, but I bought this car for the purpose of a father son restore project with my old man. My first memory is of riding in his 79, and up to the point I was 24 he ALWAYS had a grand marquis between the vintage of 87 to 91, just different cars . Considering this is the first one ive ever seen with the 351 I jumped on it right off. Unfortunately the rings are soft and she burns a bit of oil, but it still fires right up and purrs.

Next year im planning on getting the motor rebuilt, and ill be supply heads, headers, and a new cam among other things when that time comes. Getting the r-134 retrofit too .

Glad I found this place and ill def post updates as the work goes on .

    Profile pics to come!

Welcome! Good to see another Canadian (we have quite a few) and another 351W owner.

You'll find the 351w's aren't much faster stock, but if you're getting serious they build and survive quite a bit more power.

It sounds like you have some good plans for the car.
