2003's had "weak" rear ends and not sure if your car is covered for the steering shaft issues recalls. Check both out!! I'm just north of Ft. Lauderdale.

Thanks for the information. I looked at recalls before I purchased the car. The ONLY one I saw was for aftermarket fuel filters.

I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale and then in Pompano Beach.

they never recalled the rear axles for the civilian models because it lasted about 100K miles anyhow. The axle shafts were made with softer steel and would wear faster than previous years. 2003 and 2004 were the years of the soft axles. Enough customers got their nickers in a twist about it that they changed the axles for some fleet customers, but stuck it to the civilians. Just be prepared to have the rear axle rebuilt in the near future just in case.

Nope not my first Panther. In 1986 and 1987 I owned a 1981 Marquis and a 1985 Grand Marquis.

                        Then in 2000 I owned a 1997 Lincoln Mark 8.

I LOVE those full size Fords with rear wheel drive.

My wife always says "Those BIG old cars can pass everything but a gas station".
