    Brake Booster Interchange

Been searching the junkyards for a power brake booster to use in my 88 for the manual transmission swap.
Per my research, the target has been a non-ABS aero. Aeros are hard to come by, and the few I've found are ABS.
Looking up the fitment, I see what is listed for a 1992/94 non-ABS car is the same part listed as a 1995/2000 civilian car (with or without ABS). Is this an error or can I really use one from, say a 1999 MGM?
There is also a police part listed from 1995/2000 as the other alternative for those years. It looks the same as the civilian version from pictures online, with slightly larger diaphragm size listed (8.81 vs 8.79"). Could this part work as well?

There is a 2000 P71 and a 1999 MGM in the yard and I'm hopeful I can make a trip this weekend.

The non-ABS bit only applies to the '92-'94 cars since the mounting studs are at different widths on ABS units and wouldn't work with a Box master cylinder. '95-'00 don't have that discrepancy and work fine with a Box master cylinder. Supposedly as you found, the police booster is just a touch larger than a retail booster during that period. Either police or retail boosters will fit, and with space to spare compared to the OE booster with respect to overall diameter.

I run the '92-'00 booster on both my cars with no complaints.

yeah... that info about the non-abs early aero is for ordering new ones. Just simpler that way since the early aeros are pretty much boxes with later aero/early whale bits and body.

Do the later boosters use a different power booster pushrod length? When I did my conversion back in 2008 or so, I was working at a parts store and just tried the later booster as a guess that it would work. But the pushrod was a different length. I ended up adjusting it to the early length by making the gauge shown in the FSM. Just wondering if the rebuilt one I used just happened to have that issue or if it is a known thing people account for, or are people just living with it? I don't have an FSM for the later models.

My car has a late booster with the late master cylinder and the pushrod from pedal to booster is the original 1986 part. I don't recall whats on the other side of it, but if it didn't come with the booster, its recycled out of the 86.

I didn't actually install that one myself, either Scott or Ivan put it on so if there was adjustment involved I don't know for sure. Pedal travel isn't weird or anything so it seems to be set correctly.
