New to the forum, and Power Steering issue

    Hey Everybody,

    New Member/Mercury Owner here.

I just bought a 2008 Mercury GM GS a few weeks ago, and it was driving perfectly. Few days ago, I noticed that the steering was getting harder and there was a squeal when I turned the wheel. I refilled the power steering fluid, and after driving for a little the stiffness was back and my steering fluid was near empty. I jacked up my car, and it looks like there is a very large leak around the Power Steering Switch on the left side. Can I replace just the switch or do i have to replace the entire assembly where the Power Steering Switch sits? Any Ideas? I know little about cars, so please keep it light. :P

    Thanks any comment is appreciated,
    Xaver

this is a rack and pinion car. will have to research this one. Haven't had a chance to play with any of those yet.

heck... I'm thinking the high pressure line from the pump to the rack is cracked/damaged.

        +1 pics if you can.

I'd at least start with the high pressure line. If it even thinks about starting to break/crack, the pump and pressure will make sure that it does eventually.
          Yeah.
And by switch I think he is referring to the EVO switch on the pump.
