I'm getting ready to buy some valve springs and retainers for when I do GL's cam swap and stuff, and I have a question about the retainers. I am looking on summit and it shows a lock style of 10 degrees, and another set of retainers that have a 7 degree lock style. What does this mean? I'm using the stock valves, so what would be the best?

7 and 10 degrees refers to the locks. standard retainers and locks are 7deg, for performance use 10 deg is preferred since the larger angle increases the surface area of the lock, which increases its load capacity. They are designed mostly for motors with a lot of spring pressure. It wont hurt anything to go with them, just get the correct locks for them.http://secondhandracing.com/Home.aspx

Most people do throw those things away, they make for having two different size valve springs and other bs. The "normal" thing to do is dump the stock springs and retainers and put on a replacement set of springs and retainers. That way all the springs are the same size and its less confusing.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
