Yeah. I got the 36" and its way too long....there actually isnt a whold lot of distance from the end of your foot and the pedal to the carb

Damnit, keep forgetting stuff. Carb spacer. What's best, plastic? Phenolic? Wood? (what the hell?)
Thickness? My intake is 4.12" tall, so I want to make sure I can still close my hood and stuff. I see all different types of spacers, open or 4 hole. I dunno which I should get. This intake is a squarebore btw. Thanks guys!

I wouldn't worry about the spacer. Put it all together and see what you have for clearance. The spacer is not all that important honestly. The type to get also depends on what the top of the intake looks like. If its got 4 holes, I'd go with a 4 hole spacer. If its just a big square opening, then an open spacer works fine. Phenolic is pretty darn strong and makes a good insulator.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I thought the question of an open vs. four-hole spacer had more to do with your needs in terms of extending the plenum area, four-hole adding a little velocity for torque, and open adding a little more volume to work with like an open single-plane intake. Results I've read from dyno tests seem to show varying results with what type and/or height of spacer helps make the best power. If your combination is happy with no spacer on a dual-plane intake, but you want a little heat isolation, I'd probably look for the shortest four-hole phenolic spacer in the catalog. For my part, I added a spacer only because my parts selection produced clearance issues and I was feeling stubborn and didn't want to change my plans, but once it was on my flat-base air cleaner hit the hood. It took a dropped-base air cleaner along with a short air cleaner spacer ring to clear both the carb mechanicals and the hood.Last edited by 1987cp; 04-25-2007, 02:51 AM.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

I installed a 1" aluminum open spacer under my carb for the swap. Fit under the hood with my rpm intake and 14x3 air cleaner just fine

The Summit rollers I just got look just like the Crane units. They fit properly. No idea if they work, since the engine hasn't been fired but they looked fine.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I ran my car without a carb spacer for the first few months then I added one later (phenolic). If you plan to run the HEI distributor, you need to use a 10" diameter air filter, the larger ones will not fit.
