Im more interested in the roller block whether its an Ho or not. I know I can get a general idea by looking at the plenum to determin "HO or not." SO, 1986 and up have roller or "roller compatible" blocks.

Were there any variations in the chamber size of different-application E7TE heads? Just wondering, since for example F1ZE GT40 Cobra heads are supposed to have smaller chambers than the F3ZE GT40 Explorer heads like mrltd and I have - though, granted, those are kind of a different casting number.

available with both I think. I've never actually seen a factory HO SEFI Capri tho. Only factory V8 car I've seen was a 79 model.

not that I'm aware of. I suppose its possible to see slight combustion chamber differences year to year and casting to casting, but the part number stayed the same so no major revisions. There may be some suffix for the 351 version that got the larger bolt holes, but I don't know.

I agree with Scott, the Lincoln's seem much better cared for and people are spooked by the air suspension. I love the way my best friend's 91 Mark VII LSC feels when I drive it and I'm sure those cars are pretty heavy.

3800-3900 lbs for a mark vii, basically the same as a Crown Vic. The air suspension is so painfully simple and easy to deal with, its really a shame that people get priced right out of the shop for that stuff. I've heard 3-4 grand to rebuild it. You can buy every part for the thing for about $700 and install it yourself, its quite simple. Takes like 15 minutes to change an air spring. Its way easier than coils. bags are 92 bucks each, solenoids are 22 each, compressor assembly is 171, and 20 bucks for the noise isolation donuts. Its also rare that every single part is shot at the same time.

There is no difference between a Mustang and Capri regarding drivetrain from 1979-1986. I have driven 1986 HO SEFI Capris.

All GT40 heads were initially cast/machined with the same chamber size. The heads which ended up on a Mustang Cobra engine got additional machining to reduce the chamber size. All E7TE heads had the same chamber. Some merely had the head bolt holes drilled for 1/2" if they ended up on a 351W. The Ford part number is different, but the same casting number is used.

Very interesting ........ so there's zero harm in buying a Mark VII with shot air suspension as long as I budget in an extra $700 ......... hmmmmmmmmm..........

They are really nice cars, one of my favorites! I just drove my friends car again tonight and its very peppy. The Mark VII was also the first American car with composite headlights, and 4 channel anti-lock brakes. I keep thinking in my mind that perhaps I'll convert to an H.O. one day. I would just use the stock 91 LSC parts and I'd be happy.
