Ok, I will be more detailed. I drove my company car (2005 CVPI) to Ford for maint and repairs. I was sitting at in the waiting room doing nothing and I though I would go chat with one of the Mechanics who was at the parts desk. I asked him to pull my car up in their computer to get an idea about what stuff my car had. I did not have the country squire with me. I was curious about the rear end and tranny. He pulled up the rear end in the computer and said it was and 8.8 with a 3.08 gear. 2 week later I cleand off the tag on the rear end and it matched what the guy said. 8.8 rear end with 3.08 gears on an 82 country squire.Vehicle: 1965 Pontiac Catalina (fastback 2+2)
Chasis: 1982 Ford LTD Country Squire
Drivetrain: 302 V8 carb, AOD, 8.8 with 3.08 gears.
Big Brake swap and front suspension completed.

Next time you are under the car, just get the numbers off of the axle tag. The tag actually says either 8.8 or 8.5 right on it, along with an ID number and the ratio.
