Alright, so you may have read my thread in OTBS about my decision regarding my future automobile. If not, then you can read it later (or not...).
If I choose to upgrade the CV, I have a slew of questions. Since this forum deals mostly with injected cars, I need some knowledge that I can't find in the archives.
My plan is: EDL 3783 (EGR intake), EDL 8053, EDL 1406, and necessary LOKAR equipment to mate the 4 bbl carb and the AOD. In addition to this, I'd like to further upgrade the performance of the engine (as I've been advised the intake/ carb won't offer a whole lot).
I know a head swap would be my best bet, but is there something else I can do? Mercracer mentioned 1.7 RR's in another thread. Would I be better off swapping the heads, or going with the 1.7 RR's? What would net the most bang for the buck?
If I swap the heads, I'd like to go GT40P, even though I'd no longer be able to retain the thermactor crap. I have some head swap questions:
#1.) If I obtain GT40P's and have them done (or buy them done), will I need to have the head bolt holes opened up for use on the 351? I thought the 351 used larger head bolts than the 302, but I can't be for sure.
#2.) Will GT40P's allow me to retain EGR?
#3.) Are E7's a viable option for a slight increase in power (ported or unported)?
#4.) Can I get a link for Thumper Performance..... I can't seem to find them online.
My last question involves LOKAR part #'s. I know I was told that since my '90 has a cable TV setup, I don't have to go LOKAR, but I want to do it anyway. Do I need to buy the throttle cable too? The kickdown is KD2aodHT, but do I also need SRK 4000, and the throttle cable?
Also, whats the deal with the throttle cable install? Does it play nice, or is it a PITA?
Oohh, a final question. The EGR plate: anyone kbnow if I can use a Mustanmg 4V HO plate on the Edelbrock manifold? I think I can, but when I look at pictures of the Edelbrock plate in comparison with the stock plate, the channels in the underside look different. I have tried the Edel. tech dept, and they leave alot to be desired. It took 2 wks for them to respond to my questions about the difference between EDL 1400, and 1406.
