    Intake Manifold Dilemma

Ok, so I am doing the 4bbl swap, and I need to retain EGR. Originally, I thought my only aftermarket intake manifold choice was Edelbrock, with the 3783 manifold for the 351W.

However, this morning I stumbled across something new from Weiand. It is in the stealth line, but it retains EGR. I've found this manifold in Year Ones '64-'73 Mustang catalog. It has PN F384. I can not find any evidence of this manifold anywhere else. Summit doesn't carry it, and neither does Jeg's, etc (with the EGR). I'm not sure whether it is a misprint or not, but they also feature the Weiand stealth w/o EGR PN 8023. The pictire shows it with the EGR hole in the carb deck.

I've called year one, but I can only sit on hold for so long. I'll try again later.

Would the Weiand be a better manifold? It says its idle to 6000 (reg stealth is idle - 6800). I don't care about the top end, I just want to know if it would be a possibly alternative. Does anyone else know about this manifold?

    Thanks in advance.

Hey man you'll have to let me know how this whole thing goes because if I ever do an intake/4bbl swap i wanna maintain all the emmissions systems as well, I'll try to help you out but I have a feeling you know more about this than me at this point.

I can't find it anywhere, but this is the same one that I have in my Year One catalog. I'll be calling them either tonight or tomorrow to find out the details.

Thanks Scott. I have an egr spacer and valve (valve is new) from an '83 Capri. I also have an Edelbrock 1406. I just need to nail down this manifold. I will call year one tomorrow, and if this is the real deal, I'll be getting the weiand. I get 20% off from anything I buy there this week, so it won't be tto expensive; a little less than the Edelbrock piece.

                Its cast iron or aluminum?

As far as you know (or can guess), how does it compare to the Edelbrock EGR manifold (3783)? Is it comparable, or not as good? By that I mean as far as performance and flow, etc is concerned. (Don't butter this up just to unload your manifold).

What are we talking in trade for this (do you have something mind)? I don't need the spacer, just the manifold (unless its a package deal). I mostly trade cash for parts...

Ford only ever made this in Iron. The only Aluminum Ford 351W intake was a Shelby only item and definitely not EGR. I am personally not impressed with the Edelbrock Performer line. It is an improvement over the factory iron offerings, but not enough for me personally to bother. I either go factory or Performer RPM or other high rise dual plane...
This intake was on a boat, so it is in pretty nice shape... It came with a EGR delete plate, but I also have a plate from another Ford EGR intake for it.
IM me with what you think one is worth and we can talk. I suggested trading parts, because it is a hard to find and replace piece so it isn't going to be as cheap as a more common factory intake.....

Aw crap!!! I just saw what you are talking about in the latest issue of Ol' Skool Rodz. When I get back home, I'll get you a part number if you haven't found it already. I knew I should have posted that when I first saw it.

BTW, what's wrong with the Edelbrock intake?

                      Nothing... its just from Edelbrock.

You saw the EGR Weiand Stealth manifold?

Well, I called the tech support at Yr 1 again, and as usual, no one picked up. I've emailed them; I hope they respond in a timely fashion. The woman in the sales office said there are 3 techies, and they supposedly get an average of 200 calls a day (total). Hmmmm.

The Weiand that was advertised in OSR is a dual plane though. I think this is what you would want if you're after low end to moderate mid-range power. When I get home from work I will look it up. I am wondering if the manifold is emmissions legal.

The Stealth is dual plane too. I absolutely need it to have EGR provisions though. Otherwise, I'm not interested.

My bad, the intake that I was referring to is for the 221-302 engines. I was all excited about nothing.
