Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.

in my personal experience the 93 runs a lot crisper and actually gets a little better mileage and seems to keep the whole fuel system cleaner.
people may disagree but i've been a firm believer for years in that brand/octane.

I use 93, or else my vehicle pings ravenously... still a little pinging in the mid range throttle with the 93.**1976 Ford F-150 4WD: 360, 4 spd, 3.50s, factory A/C, 4" lift, Bilsteins, US Indy Mags, 35s Cruiser

it has been proven that the efi 5.0 will run on 4 year old gasoline.
87 works like a champ, sometimes I used 93 on my 1987 MGM when I put either Lucus or Seafoam in, but thats every 4-5 months on fillup.
I hate Clark, the water down their gas (Well the local ones do...) REALLY, I know what you thinking, how can it pass inspection, well it can't they pay off the government, my cars have actually ran worse with their gas than any other brand, its like using Quaker State and a Fram Filter....
Anyother brand of gas I don't care, some people sware by the BP with that Invigorate stuff, but I use whatevers not Clark, and whats cheapest/closest.LPP71 from CVN

I buy 87 octane at BJ's in Linden and pretty much stick to that routine. Every oil change or when I feel like it I throw in a bottle of STP Fuel Injector Cleaner. Once I got gas for my Grand Am at this place, a Getty I think, only $5-10 worth and the car died and wouldn't run for two weeks. Next time I passed the station, the place was closed and the tanks were getting replaced so I avoid random gas ups and Exxon's which the Mercury never seemed to like.sigpic

That was during the times when they used to carry "Ultra 94" as well.
RON vs MON . . . if I remember, from a specific vehicle I was trying to figure out this info for - the sticker under the hood said it required 91 octane, which I thought was too high for something running only 8.5 to 1 compression, until I noted that it said 91 RON. Which, when I looked it up, is the same as 83 MON... ergo, it needed 87 octane RON+MON/2.... making WAY more sense for mid-1970s low compression motors.
Aside... I often wondered if the 7.6:1 compression Pontiac V8s of the mid-70s could run on horse-piss.1987 Ford LTD Crown Victoria 2-door Coupe - perpetually "sort of" for sale...
