if its been open, you need a drier then. Drier, O rings, flush, re-charge will probably get it done.

3 months of the year is 25%. Thats enough. I work in a non-air conditioned warehouse. I spend enough hours of my life sweating my balls off to not be interested in doing it while driving.

Besides, working AC is a selling point. A box of parts is a headache.

I'm the only one who rides in the car most of the time, not trying to impress anyone. Honestly rather just take it out and save a mpg or two. Plus the money spent on new parts and shop labor (since I'd need a shop to find the leak and flush it out) is better spent on other stuff. I was just hoping I could simply recharge it myself and be done with it, but that's not gonna work.

LoL. Does it have safety tubes, a four barrel carb or dual exhaust or 4.11 gears???

This. Although when we went up north some weekends ago I was surprised to find out our LoPo's are faster than newer Chevy Equinox turds. The low end grunt off the line makes the ladies think it's fast but I dare not floor it- poker face!

It helps with reducing the stigma that old cars are unreliable or crappy. I can't stand looking at switches or buttons that when pressed or activated, nothing happens. Please don't gut the car of it's equipment. As it is, when the system isn't working the A/C compressor just acts as a pulley, so you're not losing any power. I use my A/C all the time and don't notice any difference in my MPG's.

I actually noticed an increase in fuel economy with my '89 MGM, although it was very little, when using A/C. The only reason I can think of is there must be less drag with the windows up. This was back when my drive to work was 30 miles one way all country driving with no traffic and few stop signs.

my 88 seems to impress people with the stoplight launch ability. under 40, it's really quick. low end torque and 3.55L gears make for a fun car. some performance tires and it would probably autocross well too.

Right, after first gear it's all down hill haha. Posi swap will be happening on my car within the month, this having to get the car rolling before throwing torque at the diff sucks.

@ Vic, that makes sense. I can't stand the boof boof boof woofha boof sound of flying down the expressway with the windows down either. More support for A/C.

They have good initial acceleration, but it runs out of steam quick. It might be a decent stoplight drag racer but passing people just ain't impressive.

I've got tinnitus, which for those of you lucky enough to not have it is a chronic ringing in the ears. If I drive around a lot with the windows down it makes them really scream for mercy. Same thing with loud music. Keeping the AC working basically lets me sleep at night.

I've got that at very low levels. Been watching the show Archer and they've been playing on that. I listen to loud music a lot. Some frequencies make my ears bleed and I try to work them out with equalization but doesn't always work. I may just remove my dash speakers as they project right into the glass and then directly at my ears. Painful.

Trust me you want to protect your hearing. Bobby has worked with live music all his life but always protected his hearing. The people around him that did not are all basically deaf. NOT a good thing!!

Research published in the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology found that digitally produced sounds mimicking nature and water provided significant relief from tinnitus. A white-noise machine with nature sound settings or a nature sound app on your phone will do the trick. Might be interesting to try!! Anthony

Mostly it doesn't bother me as long as I don't do stupid things. I always wear ear plugs when cutting the grass or working with tools that make a lot of noise, things like that. I also keep the stereo to a reasonable volume. Its not as fun, but the payment for the fun is not worth it.

I've always worn ear plugs around that crap. People laugh but they can suck one covered in herpes for all I care. Studies show that constant levels of noise are the biggest contributor for hearing loss so ear plugs around those sources are a must for me. I've got three passions; Music, cars and food, so sometimes I just gotta jam, do a burnout and eat a cheese burger.
