    4bbl swap parts

Since I must replace my leaking tank, I figure I might do the 4bbl swap while I'm at it. I was searching ebay and found a few parts I'm interested in:

Ported Iron manifold, It has been ported, its just so inexpensive that I could buy other parts and change the manifold later. I emailed they guy and he said it was good to go.

ACCEL dual point distributor. I dont know how dual point works or if it would go good with my application, new wires too. I might just buy a vacuum advance, What do you guys think?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

MSD 6al, coil, fuel pump, cam, is there anything else I would need for this that I'm forgetting? And tom, what did you use for your fuel lines from the tank and do you use a pressure regulator? Also I'm not sure if I can use a tv cable for my carb. If anyone knows if I can on a model 80457 carb that would be awesome. I think holley sells a kit but I'm not sure. Some one enlighten me.

I used 1/2" aluminum line for the long run of the fuel system. The line runs into a FPR, splits into two feeds for the carb.

You use an electric pump right, I will be using a mechanical, and my carb is a single inlet. Where do you get aluminum line and is single or double flared? I forget.

While dual breaker points are kinda neat-retro you will soon come to realize why we no longer use them. For your money, I'd go with regular stock DuraSpark ignition. Should be able to get one for nearly free and you'll never need to fool with trying to get the dwell correct on it. Nice that its adjustable on the fly but points are still a pain in the ass.

        just my 2 cents.

You can buy a 25' roll of 1/2" aluminum line from Summit for around $25. mine uses compression AN fittings. Im not sure what you would need for your s depends on the fittings on the pump

I accually have an old dwell tachometer for my pickup. I see your point tho, I will go with a duraspark. I just eyeballed it because it was an aftermarket piece with plug wires.

I went to holley's website. They have the tech info for the carbs, I was reading mine and almost every carb they offers says "do not use on cars with ford automatic overdrive transmissions, severe dammage to the transmission will result". Will that kit for the tv linkage fix this or not?

It's true mang, go with something a little more modern. I decided to try and be cool and swapped a 1974 F-100 disty into my Lincoln, the points never worked right.

Use the lokar AOD kickdown cable and bracket, like I did...

                    -GMGT

                    It works great!!!

WTF, that manifold jumped to $50+. Racing junk's website is down, and MSD boxes aren't cheap. That and I cannot find the right distributor. I just hope my fuel pump will come through.

:edit: Where did you get the lokar kit, I went to their website and it only shows the cable and not the bracket. Doesn't the throttle linkage on the carb need to be modded?

Don't bother with factory Iron. You can get an AFTERMARKET aluminum intake cheap.
Just start out with a factory Duraspark II distributor and box. Get a new reman 1985 std. trans Mustang distributor and a box w/harness from a bone yard.

Okay!, I won my auction for the fuel pump + timing cover. I think I found the right distrbutor http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...22352159QQrdZ1 Just needs a cap and hi performance wires.

Now I need an ignition module(preferably MSD if I find it at the right price or a duraspark [2 or 3 plug module?]), cam, coil, fuel line+fittings, 1 heater hose, lokar kit, small fuel filter+pressure gauge. Maybe a carb spacer, and I get to wait till tomarrow to see if the torker 2 intake stays low price or I will get the one from TommyN. I think thats it, I'm sure I'll think of something else.

You relize that the Torker 2 intake builds power at 2,500-6,500 RPM and it is a single-plane intake. It will really hurt you down low. It is basically a short Victor intake.

                              A RPM Air-Gap builds power from 1500 - 6500 and is dual-plane.

With a dual plane intake you can modify it to run a higher power band by shortening the divider wall.
