    Broken Car

    My car is broke...anyone else know what this is?

    Yup, that is the rod inside of the shift tube. Looks liek every other broken one ive seen.

          Its not out of a tranny, it is out of the steering coloum. Not sure what year they started, but i know 92 had them, possible 91s also.

                Yeah, I've seen a couple of those pics, and they all break in an almost identical place/pattern. Cheap garbage metal.

                      I have a 2001 motor all ready to go in. I already converted the pan, filter adapter and timing cover over. I have just been limping the car along waiting for warmer weather. I can't drive the car over to the garage I am renting with a busted shifter though. Luckily I have 1 90 parts car left. I am heading up to pull the parts off of it after work tonight.

                          I think the newer ones use a cable or some mess but its probably still got that rod in the column before it connects to the cable. Mine has the messy old style rod and pivot deal. Not pretty but it works.

                            Mine also has a cable, but that weak little rod goes between the cable pivot and the shifter handle.
