    What are these "connections" called?

What are these exhaust "slip joint" ends called? I have been calling them collectors, but that is incorrect. What's the proper terminology?

I have a crack, leak or one of the "ears" broke off the stock Y-pipe after I drove through a big puddle last night. The exhaust is really loud now.

You can buy split flanges to replace the broken one. I went through a few sets on my Mustang till I found some good ones. The good ones look just like those flanges, but cut in half with bolt holes welded on. The weird looking ones that are several layers of metal riveted together suck, and never seem to work again if you have to disconnect them.

That is a ball socket type connection. You can buy new flanges and new balls and sockets for custom work.

Yep- flanges. The collector is on the header/manifold where the exhaust gases exit the header.
My previous headers had a 2.25" collector and the new ones have a 2.5" collector, so I need new flanges.
