    289 question

Would it be possible to take the 302 EFI upper and lower and bolt them to a 289? Anyone know if it has been done before?

I've seen it done, but not on a box.

It would bolt right on, but a 289 block isnt a roller cam...

Why would you be running a 289?

289 heads, intake and valve covers on a roller 302 block would give you the nostalgic appearance with the modern camshaft availability. You could even run a 289 crank and rods if you just had to have 289 cubes.

I would love the extra 8 cubes in my towny. 281 is just pathetic.

                Why?

It would make more sense to run just the stock 289 than go and swap everything onto a 302 block. I'm not putting this in my lincoln anyway, doing research for a future project.

Roller block has a better rear main seal for one. And hmm...roller cam...

I don't want a roller block, or a roller cam, or any of that nonsense.

The stock rods are stronger in the 302HO and the 1 piece rear main is much nicer. You are giving up horsepower by going with a flat tappet cam.

Roller blocks last longer, and generate less friction. No matter what you are going to probably have it machined before rebuilding. So you might as well use the good roller 302 block and destroke it.

Why don't I just get a 302 block, put a 289 sticker on it, then tattoo "poser" on my forehead??????

Why not just use a 350?
