Definitely, if you want to see the full potential of your engine you need the proper gear ratio, i'm guessing you have 2.73 or 3.08, which is holding you back plenty. I have 3.08's in my Lincoln, and i'm about to go buy that K code rear end I found in the junkyard. Taking off from a stop is sluggish at best and if you gas it coming out of a corner all you get is one tire spinning for slow takeoff. I can't wait to see how the lower gears and trac loc help this pig move.

And after looking up prices for new parts, a full K code rear end from the junkyard is a hell of a deal if it's all intact. I'm gonna have mine put in by a shop with rebuilt drums, new brake lines and obviously all new u-joints to get rid of the play.

Don't put too much gear in it...you probably have too much converter as it is...3.27's and a 2200-2400 stall would be perfect because I guarantee you make gobs of torque down low. With better heads that converter and 3.73's would be great.

      Good luck,
      Don
