    New bumper

I switched out my chromed steel bumper for a aluminum bumper off a wagon. Unfortunately my old one was a smooth bumper and this one had the rubber strip on it. I left off the two big plastic bumpers, i think it looks a little cleaner without them.

the reason for the swap was weight savings. The original bumper is about 35#s, and its steel support was an additional 35#s, with the aluminum bumper the inner support was aluminum, i cut the support down to a minimum. Total weight of the new bumper and support is about 25#s a total weight savings of about 45#s a huge savings because all that weight came off the very front of the car.
Anyone in florida want a very straight smooth chrome bumper?

Unfortunately the 79 bumpers only come in steel. I had the opportunity to get the bumper off the 79 landau i took the marker lights, grille, tail lights and hood ornament off of, but i did not have the time.

The aluminum is pitted, but you gotta be close to see it. The pitting is not as bad as the grille is.

Do all wagons use aluminum bumpers, or just certain years?

Looks great. Next you should black out the headlight bezels.

I like the chrome on the front of the older Vics. Esp with '79 parts.

I know it may be a bit off topic but would a 88-91 vicky bumper fit on them or would that just look silly

would it bolt up? Yes. Would it look right? No. The newer bumpers are flatter, where as the older ones are more pointed.

Duce, what did you make that lower air dam out of? I want to do something similar but not sure how thick it should be.
