    Door Handle Removal

I've got a 1985 country squire, I removed the inside door panels to get the exterior door handles off. Come to find out they a riveted in. Has anyone drilled them out and replaced them with bolts? I'm getting ready to paint this thing and I need to finish removing the old vinyl around the handles.

Yes, a few members have replaced the door handles and used bolts, of course you can also use rivets again if you are anal about originality... why is there vinyl around the exterior door handles though??

wood-grain vinyl... I think it even goes in behind the handle as well.

That's how I remember it, your thinking seems right, although it has been a while since I had a wagon.

Get a punch and tap out the center then drill it out. Helps to have a buddy hold the handle away from the drill bit.
