Good deal on the motor too. Looks like an early engine, which has the more desirable intake since its got EGR passages.

Yea, It helps that my dad and uncle have known the sales guy since they were kids lol.

And ya it is a 96 engine, so that will help alot. Now we dont know whether to keep the GT40 heads, or sell them and go buy some GT40P heads

Yea, it is a 31 spline, we mainly wanted the gears, then we will see if we can have the trac-loc put in

      Ok, Heres some updates.

This was done a few weeks ago, But we did a 3G alt. swap on it, that helped out alot on all the electrical stuff.
We also put a Mark 8 elec. fan on it, it pulls alot of air now, it came really close to the W/P pulley, but it fits nicely, and it wont be overheating anytime soon.
I also got a airbox-tube from a 5.0 Cougar Night-Cat, its alot more free-flowing than the original, and looks original.

Also a question, would the GT40 engine be better than a GT40P engine, because now i have the chance to buy a complete 1997 GT40P engine, which would be better ???

      Enjoy the pics, Thanks

Thats what I've heard, but my dad will probably have them ported, so that would make the 40's better than the P's ???

We want the most torque, which head would provide the most ???

Probably about a wash. Beware porting either the GT40 or the P head though. Its easy to make them worse, and there is not a whole bunch of material in certain spots. You can hit water with them easily so you really want to have them done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Other consideration with the P head, you need the correct headers to fit them.

Ok, if they are ported i will let the shop know, and it looks like i'll just be using the GT40 head because the day after the "P" explorer came out someone pulled the engine

And i will be using the Ceramic coated "P" shorties i got

And today, my dad put in the 3:73 Posi, now when you punch it, it really moves... it throws you back pretty hard.

Now it just needs a 5-speed  :3gears:

Man, this thread is pretty dusty Lol.

                But, time to update.

About a week ago, we went to the JY, and we just happend to get there right as they were bringing out a 1988 Mustang GT.

So, of course, we attacked it like wild animals, It happend to have a BBK 70mm TB, That was snatched immediatley, but it looks like some monkey beat it with a wrench, but it has no cracks at all, i made sure like 4 times lol.
And the car has a BBK 2.5 H-pipe, Aftermarket 1-5/8 shortys, those will be tooken for my uncles CV.

Just thought I would let you know the car is still alive, I will also be updating my Merc in this month.

Heres the TB, but for some reason, I can barely find any info on it though ???

Someone had a 70mm BBK throttle body on a stock upper? thats a bit silly. Nice find though, shame some meathead beat it on there with a club though.

Welp, Its time for some updates on this, cant beleive its been over a year, lol

But not much has changed honestly, the only thing done drivetrain wise is that we put 1.7 cobra RR on it about a month or two ago.

But the exterior looks a little different, my dad painted the top since all the clear coat was garbage and peeling off like corn flakes, so he painted it with urethane primer sealer, so it wont hold moisture like regular primer. Hes just saving money until he decides whether he wants to paint it himself, or take it somewhere and have it done. And it will all be painted the factory colour, no two tone, this is only temporary.

Also we found a fox-body hood scoop at the junkyard, and we couldnt pass it up for $15, and since it fit the lines on the hood pretty well... he put it on, and doesnt look too bad, lol.

                        Enjoy the pics:

I kinda dig the two-tone actually. Paint over that grey with a metallic silver, maybe the Titanium color the 90 SE was available in, and you've got a real looker.

Yep it's stored in the winter, we also have a semi rusted 92 vic that acts like a tank for winter.
