It is on one of the valve covers

Yep, figured as much. Wonder why earlier models didn't have a dedicated filler neck? Kinda strange. I jacked a funnel from the service bay, lol.

I can't believe how much oil this engine eats. When I bought the car the oil level was A-OK. But when I checked it earlier, it was 2 quarts low! I also wasn't expecting it to take more than a quart before the store closed, so I bought a gallon jug of MM Oil. So now it's like 40% MM Oil 60% unknown oil that Matt used. Well, better than being 40% low I reckon. And the oil that is in there is black as soot. -_- I wonder how old the oil REALLY is.

Following the every-3000-miles-from-new clock, the next oil change is due at 123,000 miles - 278 miles from now. Next oil change will be 1 quart Lucas stabilizer and 4 quarts of whatever I have laying around - most likely either Castrol GTX 10W40 or Castrol HD30. Might hurt my mileage a tad but I don't give a shit, as long as no more oil mysteriously disappears.

What filler neck? Carb and CFI cars didn't have fancy pokey-uppey filler necks.

Was the motor rebuild by the PO?

                  What was done?

I have a theory or two as to where your oil is going

nothing internal in the motor was touched.

Fuck new seals, this car is due for a new motor.

I changed the oil yesterday. 1 quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer and 4 quarts of Quaker State "Itasca" SAE 30. So far, no death knock on engine startups. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Why yes, yes it was he, who wanted to remove his brain and eat it. I think it involved the knocking engine thread that Matt made. I even had it in my signature for a while.
