I'm not very bright. I should have known this, but didn't realize the mileage is racking up on the car due to the gearing being wrong.

I finally figured this out when I decided to take a trip up to my buddy's in the car, all highway, to get the highway miles per gallon figure. I look down and there are 30 miles on the trip odometer. I look up and there are 20 miles on the GPS.

So that means eventually, the 75k or so I bought the car with will eventually be true, especially with the 1/3 odometer disparity. The odometer is showing around 62,800, and I didn't let the BMV brand the title with a TMU in addition to the 'salvage' that's already on there.

I'm not worried about it until it surpasses what should have been on the car, plus the actual mileage I've put on the car. I'll sit down and do the math soon here, but that also means I need to figure out different MPG figures, as I was using the trip odometer instead of the actual miles travelled.

All told, I got 19 mpg on the freeway with the 4.30s (windows down) and going between 55-62 mph. The rear end gets noisy up around 60 or so, but I don't mind going 55 all the time if that's what it takes to save possible wear and tear.

My dad also found out that the local professional upholstery shop wants $750 to redo the vinyl top. I don't know if that's a good price, or not. Or if I can get a better deal up in Akron or maybe Cleveland.

I paid much less than that. Though I did do all of the trim labor and prep on the body. I removed all of the trim and the quarter windows. Removed the vinyl top ans sanded down the roof, primed it blocked it and painted it body color (just for protection). Brought the car into (actually outside of) the shop where the filled the body gaps with foam and sprayed on glue and fitted the vinyl top. After they were complete I went home and installed windows and trim pieces.

There is a lot of labor when doing a vinyl top. A lot of the car has to be dismantled to do it properly.

I don't have a tach on her yet, I've been looking on Craigslist now and then, but the ones that I've emailed haven't replied, and I can't see paying $100 for someone's used tach.

o'reilly has new tachometers from 39.99 to 225.99 depending on style and brand....so 100.00 for a used one is INSANE(im sure rockauto, summit etc.would be priced competitively)

I'm looking into an AutoGage, on Summit they list a 6000rpm tach for $50, not too bad. They have cheaper ones but I only want a 6000rpm, I want to use more than half the tach lol.

Here's a link to the rest of the photos I have of the final paint prep/primer in a gallery on Google+ G+ https://plus.google.com/photos/10473...10858354586801

Shows the rust repair, seam fill, etc, all the normal stuff. I paid out of pocket for a new windshield because it had some chips/cracks in two or three places starting even though at least one stone hit after I got the car and I could have had my $0 glass insurance take care of it. My uncle also emailed to tell me the rear window seal was all dried out and needed redone, so that's getting taken care of as well.

Just got the box of cutoffs from Slymer in the mail yesterday, so I'll be taking them down and sticking them up before the ride back north with the car! Horrible buzzing noise from the dome light support/mount at speeds over 50 on the way down, stuck my headphones on my right ear and played mp3s on the way down so I didn't go crazy.

Got to get a new/recovered headliner done when I get the car back here. The one that was in it, the cardboard must have gotten wet or something because it was sagging up front. Not sagging like glue-let-go billowing in the wind, but sagging like push up THUMP, let go THUMP. Problem is the blue headliner I'm planning on getting recovered is sagging like the carboard got wet THUMP-THUMP in the rear. I have brown head rests out of my old '88 waggin' I'm planning to have redone to match interior so I can have the big foamy comfortable noggin-knockers instead of the shitty, skinny, possibly neck-paralyzing Merc ones.

Couple other wiring in things and possible surprises to take care of after I get the car back. Sometimes it feels like it will never get done, y'know? Oh, and I ended up gettting a Smoove-21mpgs @62-ish on the hwy (with 4.30 gears) on the way down since those variable waggin' springs popped into the rear, giving the car a slight rake.

Same Titanium Silver / Black Pinstripe as the shiny side panels were, only now with 100% more Slicktop. Former dealership bodyman who stripped the trim for me asked what color I was having it painted, and said he was surprised I wasn't going flat/matte black. I told him "Matte Black sucks, you can't touch it or you get fingerprints, you can't wax it to protect it or anything" He said yeah, and if you brush against it even with clothing, it makes a shiny spot and makes it look like shit.
