I ran into that once on a smallblock Chevy that had been "making gas" from a stuck choke. Don't recall which rod it was, but one of them definitely flopped like that. Found that, called Jasper for a fresh motor. Never pulled the rod cap but I expect the crank was fucked.

The EGR tube broke. Bought a new one.
The drivers side exhaust manifold stud broke off flush and could not be extracted. Bought a new manifold.
Motor won't mate to the trans.

Make sure the torque converter is fully seated, clean the dowel pins and spray them with some lube. The transmission has rotated counterclockwise (front the front).
If i get underneath and push up and turn it, it almost lines up. However, the motor it too far towards the passenger side, and if we get itto center, it won't go back to the trans.
Dowel pins look good. We managed one in, but not the other.
I'm pulling the transmission today and installing them together.

Pulled the transmission, mated the new motor to it, and dropped the combo in today. I used 6 ton jacks, but i didn't need to extend them up. Its all bolted in.
I just need to put the other half of the car together now.
