1985 Town Car Cartier (formerly navguy12's from thelincolnforum.net)
Super nice, Ry. Puts my Townie to shame! I'm tempted to pick up the other NOS taillight pieces from Bakers.

Absolutely beautiful TC. I haven't seen a Cartier that old before. There aren't too many Cartiers in my area.

Out here, I went to go pumpkin picking out east at the farms but had to turn around because it was so jammed packed we couldn't even get out there. Ended up stopping at some random farm in the middle of the county. (Much better). I wish where I am we could find fall things to do that weren't packed with a million and a half people. lol
Chop up that nice shiny exhaust? No way. It's single exhaust, but it's so nice.
I had to wipe the drool off the keyboard, btw.
No chopping, just trimming. I'd just trim it even with the bumper so it doesn't stick out, gives it a clean look. Also no chopping for a muffler delete either, mine and others I've seen are just clamped in, you can clamp in a piece of pipe and if you don't like it clamp the muffler back in. How you couldn't like the power and sound is a mystery to me but whatever floats your boat.

Thank you! Again, I feel obligated to point out that my efforts only consist of maintaining the cleanliness of the car Mike put so much time, care and investment into. I have no plans to part with it in the foreseeable future

Just keep in mind that they told me the pair on my car was the best they had. I would definitely ask for pictures of their actual stock before going ahead with a purchase. Seems that "shelf wear" is common on their inventory.
Trim that tailpipe, sticking out like that isn't a clean look. Also delete the muffler for "moar power!" I did that on mine, not loud at all, nice mild rumble.
I do intend on trimming/raising the exhaust, just haven't been bothered enough by it yet. I am in the process of making room for, and installing a 2-poist hoist at the shop, so that will make exhaust work 1000x easier (not to mention continuing the underbody detailing Mike painstakingly carried out). Ideally, I want to throw factory-style duals on it at some point. There is something to be said about how quiet this car is, though. It suits it's character. I wouldn't want to make it much louder. I'll leave the rumble for my '87s.

The location in the photos is quite close to busy, populated areas (a few miles at most). There were a lot of "fall admirers" along our drive and I lucked out finding this scenic dead end road. It was quiet until the two distant cars visible behind the '85 showed up, looking for landscape photo-ops. The police (OPP) had all of the residential side streets blocked off in Belfountain to ward off big-city "tourists."

Dual exhaust every time. But having seen that car in person, I wouldn't touch a thing on it.
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

I understand that. I put factory duals on my car, and it was my best upgrade but if I had to do it over I would have just pulled the muffler for a pipe, because the factory H-pipe wasn't cheap (and I am) and since I haven't modded the engine, the single exhaust would've been fine, oh well.
For yours to keep it quiet, I'd go with Dynomax Super Turbo's, those are very quiet mufflers and flow at least twice what the stock mufflers do. Even on mine with no mufflers it's not very loud so with any mufflers at all it'll be quiet, especially with those. Manifolds, 4 old cats and 2" pipe really keep it quiet, more so with good mufflers.
At any rate, your Lincoln is a lot like mine but every bit just that much cleaner and nicer. Mine was garage kept most of it's life, only a tiny bit of surface rust where trim has come off and the vinyl top is rip-free. If only I could afford a new transmission, I would keep it and put it back on the road, it's so nice I hate to sell it. Hearsesrock427 here wants to buy it, and if the local guys interested in it don't buy it, I know he'll give it a good home, like you will with this one.

The '85 may be on the road for 2015 this weekend. It's raining today, and a thunderstorm is forecast for tomorrow, so that should deal with the leftover salt on the roads. Supposed to be sunny with good temps on the weekend, so I'll give her some fresh Mobil 1 synthetic and an FL-1A and go for a cruise
This was a couple weeks ago, the snow is gone now. Waiting patiently since early November.

Mobil 1 synthetic + Rislone + ZDDP + FL1A = 50+ pleasing miles on Sunday. It blows me away how many looks this car gets, for being a relatively incognito kind of vehicle. I think it's noticed simply based on rarity alone, these days.

At one point in the drive I was following a '65-66 Mustang, and a mint ~1985 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency passed by going the other way. Suddenly it's 1985...
