Please let us know if things are working or not. This is still somewhat a work in progress so don't be too surprised if things magically appear from one visit to the next.
Ok, heading back in to the garage after the Christmas weekend.
All the rustproofing will be done in the engine bay, and the new trans will be cleaned up and painted appropriately. Then installation of the J-Mod, pan, and larger output shaft housing.
I still have to put the old engine on a stand and pull off the old exhaust manifolds and swap them over to the aluminum motor.
The combo might be going in next week. We'll see.
End of the year update:
I never planned on buying this car.
Mileage hasn't changed. It's still at 165,970. Still have to install the drivetrain. Not sure if I'll get to that soon.
But plans are to get it up and running as soon as possible!!
Got a little work done tonight. Mostly organizing the garage and getting ready to get down to business.
I removed the exhaust manifolds, motor mounts, and A/C compressor idler bracket.
Gotta swap that stuff over from the old motor (minus the bracket, since it actually has A/C).
More progress tomorrow.
Transmission is done. Jmod C/W. New pan installed. Trans is now resting on a tire awaiting install.
Put the spent TOJ3 motor on an engine stand.
Took the old exhaust manifolds, and motor mounts off it. I need to clean up the mating surfaces before I install them on the aluminum motor.
I still need to clean up the engine bay and put rust inhibitor/encapsulator/destroyer on everything. I might get to that on Wednesday.
Always hated that part. It sucks even more knowing that once you do that to the frame, you gotta keep doing it to everything that attaches to said frame. And then you realize you forgot to burn a frame crossmember in... Fun times, fun times!
