It's sad. I remember when there were more homes and buildings there.

I took the Bronco up thru some trails, up behind the dump one day there. Pretty neat, I love that place.

I showed this article to my 13-year-old....he thought it was cool. I was looking for some pics of what's left of this town, to show to him, and this thread popped up.

a band I was in for a while..I engineered etc all of the recordings, played bass, and a little guitar on the recordings there. I have no idea why I've been fascinated with Centralia for years but I have been..and named that band after it :D

Ignore the dying cat-esque caterwauling from the lead singer. He is the single biggest reason the band doesn't play together anymore.

oh yeah, I played the theremin and various other weird things for the interlude in 'hey you'..that was one of my favorite things to record, ever. working in the studio is just the best.

this is cool, i haven't been to centralia yet, though i've been wanting to make a trip out there for the last few years. i'm in a metal band in new jersey called Centralia. here's the link if anyone wants to check it out. not sure how many people would be into this style, it's old school death/black metal along the lines of venom. myspace.com/centraliaband

Yeah, we keep our fires underground and our shit behind fences. Bob Segar has a song about this place.

When the last hold out is gone, the government is probably going to shut down that area. Better visit now if you want to see it up close.

Didn't they re-route a couple routes some time back? Besides, it wouldn't be the first time roads get moved.

It'd be an expensive proposition to move the roads in that area. Not exactly an easily negotiated terrain.
