    Oxygen sensors

Hey guys! I have done a full tune up on my car I changed the engine oil, trans oil, plugs, wires, pcv, fuel and air filters. My tires are inflated properly yet after all this my gas mileage is still poor.

I get about 12mpg and I don't drive that hard. But I have not changed my o2 sensors. Which I think is killing my gas mileage I want to change them to get better mileage and before it's kills my cat as well.

What is a good aftermarket ones?? Motorcraft are really expensive $88 each!! I need 4 of them!!

What year is your car? I know if it's newer the check engine light will come on if it's o2 or converters.

You probably wont need all four of them. I wouldnt say all four would go out at one time.

I'd do just the two before the converters first, they check the fuel mix on the exhaust, the two after just check how well the converters are working IIRC

yeah the rear ones are to make sure the converter is there. They don't mess with fuel economy. Most of the OEM sensors are made by Bosch. I've been using them for O2 sensors without troubles.

I only have two O2 sensors in my car. And I unplugged them. I still get 22 city, 28 highway. And all my EGR crap is gone. I "have" a check engine light (CEL) but, it may or may not have a bulb in it.

pull them out of the box. I'd bet they have a Bosch emblem stamped in. I bought a Standard ABS sensor, and it was made by ATE, same people that made it for Ford and it was like 1/2 the price of other brand parts.
