    Still OK to use?

My '86 MGM Tudor has 87K miles, and has always had 10/30 oil utilized.
Shall I continue with this, or change to 15W40 as has been suggested?

At 87K, that motor should be pretty healthy. Run the 10W30 in it until it starts knocking at idle.
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

Why would you switch to 15w-40? Unless your motor has little oil pressure and is well worn out no reason to change.

I ran 10w30 in my 89 from the time the engine was rebuilt until I parked it 110k miles later when I stole the trans for the 91. No engine issues at all.

I have 148K and I still run 10w30 in the winter and 10w40 in the summer. Runs like a top.

Upon startup I can hear the clacking of the valves, but it soon goes away as she warms up.

266,000 and still using 10w-30. Do have a little knocking...the lopo knock. Tried Engine Restore for the 1st time...and it sounds like the knocking has quieted down a little. Did not do a before and after compression check, so I don't know if its helping seal the rings or not. I saw blue smoke coming out on a road trip and thought I'd give Restore a try.

220 k after engine rebuild at 110. 10w40, 25-30 pounds oil pressure at idle. It isn't the type of oil it's how faithfully you change it.Every 2-3000 miles.
