      My 92 still has vacuum cruise. I don't know when they changed over, could have been with the 3 bolt starters. I ditched my dump valve and not suprisingly the cruise wouldn't work. I don't recall if I left it open or closed though. I hooked up an extra vacuum switching valve to the brake light switch to mimic its function as the vacuum dump valve wouldn't jive with my clutch pedal. I now wonder if I could do without as it's been implied that the dump valve is secondary.
      1992 CVLX. 5.0 HO/GT40P/T5/3.73/trak-lok with bolt ons. 02 front CVPI setup, rear HPP setup, CVPI shocks around, F250 radiator, e-fans, and the power of 3G. 15.92@89mph, 2.4 60', 4700' elevation (5500' DA) with 3.08 open rear and the old oil chugging 289. RIP.

        the dump valve on my mark 7 is bad so the cruise surges annoyingly. I had to plug the line off to the valve so it would behave itself. Unfortunately as far as I can tell, that dump valve is obsolete and NLA. I kind of like the option of a secondary "oh crap" device, but if it doesn't work and its not fixable.....

          secondary fix for a broken dump valve. plug the vacuum line with a plug that has a string attached. If it won't disengage, pull the string.

              What about honking the horn? I noticed the horn is part of the schematic in the cruise system.

                  that would be annoying. Everytime you laid on the horn to clear a left-lane bandit, the car starts slowing down.

                    The cruise buttons power through the horn relay. + feed up to the column comes back as switched + to the relay, and varying levels of resistance back to the cruise module or ECM, depending on the specific system. Honking the horn will not screw with operation of the cruise control.

                      On my car, if you push both the ON and OFF buttons at the same time, it honks the horn. Lol
