Mercury Marauder Brakes on a box?

If one upgraded the brakes to "aero" brakes, could one run aftermarket brake kits made for the Marauder? If its not straight forward swap, what could/need be done to make it work? And what size wheel would be necessary for the stock Marauder brakes; aren't they bigger?

you would need to do a 03+ frame swap
iirc the front brakes are smaller on the 03+ cars anyway.......the 98-02 front brakes and 92-97 rear discs work fine on a box

1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt
2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature. Stock for now
1989 Ford F-250 4x4 much much more to come, sefi converted so far.
1986 Toyota pickup with LSC wheels and 225/60/16 tires.
2008 Hyundai Elantra future Revcon toad
1987 TriBurner and 1986 Alaska stokers keeping me warm. (and some pesky oil heat)

Completely different front suspension on an 03+. I highly doubt you'd be able to make Marauder stuff fit without a frame swap, or at least extensive frame mods. Maybe if you were really good, you could modify the box frame to take the 03+ front suspension and crossmember, but you best be damn sure of what you're doing.

What type of suspension do Panthers use after 2003? Let me guess, Lincolns got it a year early, too?

They got a huge aluminum sub-frame up front to replace the k-member, and they use a spring/shock combo that I guess you could call a strut.

Thanks guys. Sounds like too much trouble, could go completely custom for that effort. I thought maybe Marauder stuff would be a way of getting into big brakes, because they might be considered a performance vehicle by the aftermarket. But after I wrote that I actually looked up what was out there and there wasn't much. There was mention on a another forum about 14" brakes, but when you goto the website of the company, and you cannot find it. I think I did find one of the brake companies making a big brake kit, but it was also offered for '98-02 Vics too. I would like a source for 13" brakes, for function and form.

              no, platform wide in 2003.

http://www.p71interceptor.com/underc...2008policep71/ has some pics of what the underside of the 03+ looks like. Note the rack and pinion steering and that big aluminum crossmember under the motor.

                That's pretty neat. Thanks.

When I hear subframe I think unibody but obviously not the case here

The aluminum front cross member was only in place for a few years, wasn't it? I thought they went back to steel.

Our '04 parts car has an aluminum cross member, though.
