      Sweet.

And, just to question the obvious, you did verify you have oil pressure on some sort of guage, right? No oil pressure will also make clattery top end noises. Moneypit is right on this one, it means no pressure or overheat. You'd know if it was overheat. It might be that its not primed up. If thats the case, pull the distributor, get yourself a 1/4" (or maybe its 5/16, i forget) socket that can be attached to a drill. Stick the sockey onto the oil pump driveshaft and spin the shit out of it with the drill. You'll know when it starts making pressure because the drill will bog down. Just make sure its spinning the right direction or you'll be there all day getting nothing done.

        Moneypit is only halfway right.

The ENGINE light only comes on for low/no oil pressure or overheating. However, I specifically stated that the CHECK ENGINE light is on, which is a different light and is indicative of the computer throwing a code of some sort.

...and believe me, if it didn't have oil pressure, it would have been making a lot more noise than a slight valve tap. This thing has an entirely new oiling system. It's okay.

I'm sorry if that came out rude. It's too fucking early in the morning.

I don't even remember my car having a CEL... If I do it has never come on... even with a bad MAP sensor, 2 bad O2 sensors, a bad TPS and a bad TFI module all at the same time.

I had the same problem when I put my chrome V/C's on, started it up, tap tap tap tap. I had to search a while, hoping it wasn't teh valvetrain taking a shit, it was the left hand V/C, the baffle sat too low, luckily the baffle had a hole in it, took a slotted screwdriver and pryed it up a little, fixed teh problem. It doesn't take much for it to hit, try bending that baffle up a little with it running and see what happens

You sure? I'll go look in my parts pile and see if one of the clusters has a CEL. I know both the '91 and the '90 had 'em.
