    Oil Gauge Test Fitted

Oil gauge was shipped in today so I figured out how to mount it in the speedometer. Of course the mounting bracket would not fit stock so I had to bend it in a couple of directions to make it work. Fits NICE and snug! Now I guess I have to get a water temp gauge...whenever that will happen.

A before and after of the bracket:

      Good stuff David.

      But I been thinking...

The title of this thread... it just ain't working.

Should have called it... I don't know...

Brown Thunder ... Dark and Sweet... Chocolate Haze...

Something other than The Brown Blob. Thats what I leave in the toliet for Pete's peppers!

        Thanks Nate

A coworker of mine named my car that. I never really had a name for it other than "my car." To date those are the best name I have heard and for that I will change it to "Brown Thunder."

        Thanks for the idea!

Temp Gauge Installed and Everything Wired Up

Broke down and splurged on the temp gauge today. I was lucky because this was the only one in stock at Pepboys!

First I installed my flashing LED for my alarm system. I had to make some clearance behind the cluster for it but I made it fit perfectly:

And then I moved onto installing the temp gauge. Making the bracket took forever for this gauge as compared to 15 minutes for the other one. I also chopped out the printed circuit and wired everything in. Now I just have to install this monstrosity.

              The front side:

And the real interesting work is found in the back:

                  looks nice mang!

Any ideas for covering up the MPH text that's peaking out from behind the temp gauge, or are you just gonna live with it?

I like it a lot, just kinda would bug me having the gauges cover some of the lettering, but that is me and there is no real way around that. It is by far the cleanest application of aftermarket gauges I have seen.

It doesn't bother me, at least not yet, so it will stay as is.

OH and I dropped the idea of the low fuel warning indicator LED because I couldn't find any yellow LED's I liked.

                        Body Work Week Six

Sorry no pictures from the shop this time as I was too busy and cut my finger pretty bad, and I just wanted to get the work done. Got the entire car below the windows epoxied primered! Filled in the trunk holes too!

We still have to do some touch ups on the car as it sits but it is not looking to bad. It will not look show quality like I hoped but I really do have HIGH standards.

The drivers side door is leaned open....All lights, bezels, mirrors, dew wipes, door handles, lock cylinders, grilles etc was removed before primer.

are you getting the top recovered? or are you going to slicktop it before it gets painted. I kinda think it would look awesome with a black vinyl top. Also, did you just do the primer for temporary purposes? as in are you having it reprimed professionally at the paint shop?

This was all done professionally at a body shop. Dents were pulled and filled all throughout the car, sanded smooth and blended in. Then the two stage epoxy primer was added nice and heavy to allow for some forgiveness in the body work (meaning we can sand stuff out if it is messed up). I will pull the top off within the next two week (hopefully) and see what is up under there. If all is well I may go with a slick top but I really would love to have a dark brown vinyl top installed. We will see when the time comes. I cannot say anything until I see what the condition of the roof is when the old vinyl comes off. Then the full roof or just half roof will get primered. Then the entire car will be sanded down getting it ready for the top coats..again all done at a professional body shop. Funny how professional body shops cannot even meet my standards though. lol I am getting all of this done on a heavy discount so I cannot complain to much.

OHH! I just won something cool on ebay...cost me a small fortune but it will help make the car more authentic and tough looking....it has something to do with gauges! And can sorta be seen in my signature.....I cant wait for it to get here!
