    Darth Vic'der

This is my third crown victoria, my first, maroon on red interior 1985 carb 302w died of cancer (rust), my second a black with grey cloth and no options except cruse, a/c and tilt steering 1986 5.0 died in a car crash (at least it killed a hyundia on its way out) .

This one is a 1985 351w that has approx 170,000km. I found it in Medicine Hat, Alberta, I bought it from the origonal owner, an elderly widow that kept it in the garage and never drove in bad weather, I went for a test drive in it with her son how was 56 years old. it is in very good shape.

It is black with a grey cloth interior but has power drivers seat, tilt, cruse, climate control, auto park brake release, power windows, power door locks and power antenia.

Future plans include lowering it, new rims and tires, and eventually a 4.6 3 valve and auto trans from a 05-10 mustag gt.Click image for larger version

The engine swap is a long term goal, it took me 10 years to find another rust free black with grey interior box vic after the hyundia killed the last one, so this one is gonna stay around for a while.

the car was never undercoated or rust proofed, just kept in a garage and almost never driven in snow or rain, she was old and didnt have to drive to work or anything, she only drove it 7000km a year (averaged over 25 years) which is about 20km a day or 580 a month, I think she put most on in the first 10 years and then dropped off cause i have her recipets from the repairs on the car and in the last 5 years she was only driving it about 1500km a year.

right now there are a ton of 3 valve mustangs so the wrecked one are fairly cheap, if it takes me 5 or 10 years to get around to the swap then maybe the new 5.0 will be as cheap and abundant by then.

No dirty 4.6 modular shit please. For half the money you could have a badass 351 done right up to the nuts laying down way more cheap power then a 4.6 could ever put out. Swapping is gay, you have a pushrod motor thats over 1000cc bigger, build from that..

Nice car, but whats with the netting over the headlights? Never seen that before. Looks good and clean though.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't do a 3v 4.6. Ever see the spark plug replacement procedure on those with the special tool for when the plugs break off in the head? No thank you. Don't know if the new 5.0 is any better in that respect, have to wait till its out 5 or 6 years to find out what its true demons are. I like the idea of a newer motor swap, along with either a 5 speed auto or a 6 speed stick and a proper suspension update to take advantage of it, but the motor would absolutely have to be something that doesn't have really retarded problems. Plugs that bust off in the heads when you try to change them so frequently that a special tool and a Ford TSB about it exists counts as a really retarded problem in my book.

Nice Crown Vic! I have to agree with everybody else. You already got a good engine to build from. Find another 351W at a junkyard or some other place and build that up. Then swap it in when you're ready. I thought of doing the same thing a while back, and then I realized that it wouldn't be worth my time.

My 351 has a motorcraft 2100-2150 2bbl from a truck (i think), it no longer uses the engine computer, but the ignition module is still hooked up to it. I think I will just get a regular truck module in the future.

The throttle linkage on the carb was for a truck with a c6 (i belive) so the kickdown rod wasnt working properly and my shifts were shit, so I went to picknpull and checked out 3 different 351 panthers, 1 had been converted to a 2150 just like mine but the throttle shaft linkage was identical to the vv carbed 351's, so I bought the carb from the crown vic and a kick down rod from a clean 81 grand marq with a 351 vv carb.

I just swapped the throttle shafts from the donor carb to my carb and replace the kick down rod (i bent mine to shit trying to get it to work), then set the idle mixture screws (they were set wron from a bad install job), base idle and timing (16 deg befor tdc for some extra kick), then set the tranny TV rod by measuring the pressure and adjusting the kick down rod screw at the throttle, 0 psi in neutral at idle and 32-35 with a 10mm spacer inbetween the adjuster screw and throttle at idle.

also I measured my sway bars, front is approx 27mm rear is approx 17.5mm (need some addco bars )
