    MyGrandMarquis - Burgundy '83 coupe

Just to make it blatantly obvious, I've recently acquired possession of Matt's old Grand Marquis. It's not on the road yet but I do plan on taking some 'current' pictures - starting with the V8 and Police Interceptor badge removal. >.>

    Stay tuned.

I look forward to hearing about the horrors that you find

Seriously though that looks like a decent car to start with. A little bird told me a CFI manifold will accept a carb. Just sayin'

good luck with it i cant wait to watch the progress done to the car. it does have more of a punch then when i first got it. it will hauls ass and will chirp the tires if you release the brake a little at the right moment while punching the gas. i would seafoam the motor. cant say anything about it being more punchy than a sefi till i get my lincoln. that merc does have the optional 3.08 rear end though its not trac lok but it's better than the standard 2.73's they come with. i suggest 3.55 with a trac lok that will make it haul ass like it never did before. never found out what is causing the engine to run lean if you fix that then the bogging and hesitation may go away.

do me a favor and mail me back that police interceptor badge i would like it for my wall of car decorations.

I was actually considering mailing it to the Towson University Police Squad, since one of their campus patrol cars is an aero GM. :P

Clean the throttle-body/carb for slightly improved engine operation.

Yeah, and the first thing I'm going to ask assistance on is what's causing the REVERSE LIGHTS NOT TO WORK D:

They couldn't simply both be burned out, could they? What silliness that would be!

Well, I'm going to dig through the old man's bulb collection and swap a few bulbs.

Oh, and these early GM's have the weirdest fuckin' parking brake releases ever. I was on the fringe of calling Matt and asking him why he stole the lever because I couldn't get the brake undone, then I noticed that little black tab... o.0

What's left of the smog system is going bye-bye tomorrow with an air grinder. Thanks to the Edelbrock air cleaner (which DOESN'T make a perfect seal around the TB, Matt... jsyk. ) all the smog crap does is push carbon dioxide into the engine bay, so yeah, hoses are going tomorrow and as soon as I can figure out an idler pulley to replace the smog pump or a shorter belt to retain A/C, I'm tossing the pump. It's just parasitic draw on the engine in its current state. Hey guys, what's the best way to plug a 'tube' catalytic converter?

i swear that neutral safety switch is acting wonky the reverse lights didnt work for me at scottfest so i got down there took off the connector and checked it then put it back on there and they worked now you have the same problem. the bulbs are fine replace that neutral safety switch i think it has a problem also clean the connector to the NSS when putting the new one on.

...and where would I locate this fabled neutral safety switch? <.<

Just because I owned a panther before doesn't mean I actually worked on it. This is my first honest-to-goodness -project- box.

look at the transmission...it's the only thing electrical connected to it.

Oh, do you go to Towson University? I can't imagine that there's another Towson in New Jersey...
I went there, will be resuming next semester also-- I live only 3 miles north of campus, if you want to meet up sometime! I've got a 1990 GM
AND I have access to a lift and shopspace and all the tools you'd need, weekdays after 5pm if you need to do some work!
