More traction just means breaking parts easier, just saying. I don't see this thing being used in snow, so keep peeling out until the belts come out. Also are you putting bigger brakes on it? If not, keep 15's on it, tires are a lot cheaper. Even the stock size 215/65/17 on my brothers Mustang aren't cheap, and they're not a performance size. Gonna switch to 225/60 next to compensate for the 2.73 gears and the slightly wider tires are pricier. I miss buying new tires for less than $100 each.

I think 15" Ansen Sprints with RWL tires would look perfect on it, sort of Starsky & Hutch.

By no traction I mean there is no tread left, the tires are from 2006, and completely dry rotted, it's not safe. I like the look of 17's on these cars, really sweet restomodded look. Probably get 225/50's, bigger overall diameter than stock, but will fill up the wheel wells nicely. Has 11" front discs, has no problem stopping, although you need a bit more force considering they are manual brakes (that may change in future).

I like the Ansens as well, bullitts are so cheap now though, and I like the look better

Quick question....with the trickflow twisted wedge heads....will i need premium gas, or regular. I have no idea what size heads are on there, nor the compression ratio. I'd like to make it so it will run on regular...but if the compression is too high...

Unless you're pretty sure it's a stock shortblock from car X, and know the combustion chamber CC (there are multiple for trickflows), it's gonna be a guessing game.

Yeah...the guy said it's a stock 93 block, but who knows. I'll fill it with a few gallons of regular and see if it pings

With aluminum heads, you may actually be able to get by with less octane than the same compression on iron heads. The aluminum cools better, so its not quite so prone to detonation problems. Basically though, see what it does. You'll know if it wants higher than 87.

                        Cool car Phil!
The combo is similar to my Capri. It goes low to mid 12's & can dip into the 11.9's if the conditions are perfect. You'll need some really good tires & powershift it like youdon't care to get there though. The "e" cam is a low rpm kind of deal but it makes good torque. Looks like a fun project, good luck with it.

It's probably like my 4Runner, runs fine on 87 but gets better mileage and makes more power on higher octane. In winter I use 87 but with better summer gas I run 91 or 93. There's a grocery store here, based in West Des Moines, called HyVee and their gas stations has ethanol-free premium, and it makes a noticeable difference in mileage and performance over standard 87.

Put in a few gallons and she seems to like regular gas

John (86VickyLx) came over today and we spent a big chunk of the day ripping apart all the wiring and making fixes. Not 10 minutes would go by between each "What the hell did they do"... But we managed to make all necessary repairs and begin to neaten things up. The only thing not really hooked up, besides unnecessary things (such as the smog pump) was the heater for the oxygen sensors. So SUPER BIG THANKS to John for all his help today! I'm glad he knows so much about the EEC-IV systems.

I also found out it has power locks! Pretty excited about that considering I've never owned a car with power lock or power windows, and this has both!

This was taken about half way through ripping stuff apart...considering there are still wires covered in tape in the picture.

Are those Scorpion roller rockers under stock HO valve covers ?

asking because I have a set of Scorpion rockers that i want to use on the Mark VII if/when I swap the heads. Would be nice if my stock valve covers fit.
