My 91's ignition switch action was bad since I got it, and I think it's getting worse, or developed a combination problem like someone mentioned in this very useful thread I found on the matter - http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showthread.php?48026
- the thumb tabs are loose
- the key pulls out in any position
- you can turn it with any key (or anything you can cram in there)
- it won't turn back to ACC
- and I just recently noticed... you can take it out of park with the ignition off! (at least as far 'off' as it will go, it turns off all power) I don't know if this is a new problem, or I just never noticed... either way I'm glad I use my parking brake...!
I have a cheap replacement lock cylinder... but I've heard bad tales about those. So I was going to order a better one, luckily I found this thread and read about the possibility of the switch being bad too... then I saw the bit about the shift tube coming loose... I have a feeling it may be all three.
So, I'm not going to buy anything until I have a closer look, and will use the cheap cylinder at least for testing purposes.
Mmmmhmm.
