    Newb

Name is Matt, just picked up a 91 Marquis, it's my first Mercury, but I'm not new to the ford game, I've had an 89 crown vic, 4 foxes, and a new edge mustang. Wanted to get away from mustangs and do something different. So...in comes the Biz Marquis, cuz well..when I'm done it's gonna mean business. First question..my front door locks don't work but the rear ones do...I figure its a linkage of some sort, but since I'm lazy I'll ask for pointers before I look.

the car the marquis is replacing...

awesome!!! plan to hot rod the marq??

more than likely, the from lock actuators are siezed up... usual SOP is to dis-connect them to free up the lock untill they can be replaced.

Definately hot rodding it, already have misc. pieces parts from past 5.0's so it should come along fairly quickly. I think the locks are disconnected already, or stuck in unlock, I dunno. I honestly haven't looked that far into it, the key doesn't turn them (or at all for that matter) and they dont work with the button, thats all I know at the moment.

Thats how they behave when they are siezed - being stuck keeps them from working with the key too... sometimes you can still use the key but they are really stiff... both fronts in both my boxes were one or the other way.

Ive used the cheap $15 ebay replacements with success.
