    SeaFoam Treatment

Okay, my 1981 Ford LTD has NEVER had the SeaFoam treatment to my knowledge. So should I run more than a half a can of SeaFoam, and drive around with WOT? Or should I just do it like three times in a row? I am not sure really what you have to do with the SeaFoam other than let it get sucked in through PCV. I will replace PCV valve...Does my 1981 Ford LTD have a screen, I could of swore someone on here said the earlier boxes didn't have screen or maybe I am just making shit up. I will do this this spring break (next week). I am hoping to see many differences in gas millage, idling, acceleration, etc.

I am expecting to see TON of smoke. Do you guys think I should do this at night time? I don't want neighbors calling me in or something.

PCV is on back of engine right WAY back there, almost hard as hell to get to right. How easy would it be for a little 140 pound wirery son of a bitch to get to it :p.

One concern I have, is, what if carbon deposits don't get out of the engine all the way, what if they get stuck elsewhere. Like if a "chunk" or something got stuck somewhere else?

Does anyone have a writeup for this in our cars? Or just a general write up?

your box has the PCV valve in the oil cap. it would be ok to even driblle a little down into the carb with the engine off.
I sucked a whole can down the brake booster line in my 91, and it didnt smoke much I used b12 chemtool but its supposed to be the same

      So here is the list...

      [x2] Seafoam
      PCV Valve
      PCV Grommet

what else should I get? I heard that aftermarket PCV grommets have trouble fitting in our cars?

Will it be okay to suck it in with 110,000 miles?

the aftermarket grommet I put in the 91 fit kinda loose... but its a different one for yours.
I cant remember what it was but I did find a HELP grommet that fit the 85s oil cap perfect. Worst case, a new oil cap is like 6 bucks and will have a new grommet and valve cover seal for it too.

It should be fine. I'd do it during the day... it can choke it when going in, so it's also best to have someone inside the car if possible to keep the rpm's up for ya.

And when it chokes it can get loud, so you don't want complaints from the neighbors at night for that, lol.

...and don't worry, im a little 140 pound wirery son of a bitch too, lol.

If it's got a lot of buildup you can clog the cats...Just use it sparingly.

If I get my friend's truck, i'm gonna seafoam it also. I'm also gonna do a tune-up with it, plugs, wires, carb cleaner, oil change and all that fun stuff. I'll wait till I get my new parts to do it though.

O.K., guys, can somebody explain this seafoam stuff to me? I've heard it thrown around the board quite a few times, but I really have no idea what it is. I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering about it, just the only one with balls enough to ask :P.

Generally it's an all purpose additive/cleaner for your car. You can add it to your fuel, oil, pcv... it'll clean out or improve the quality of whichever you put it in. VERY good quality stuff too. Definately worth the money.
