    pcv valve question

I got a new pcv valve and oil cap today, the one i replaced was really old. When i started the car the pcv valve was making a lot of noise, enough to hear while i was in the car with the sterio on. The little tube on top was sucking in a lot of air, is that normal? The old one didn't make any noise at all.

If you only have 1 hose on the PCV valve, the smaller line is supposed to be capped off. Normally new valves come with a little plastic plug to use.

I remember the one on my truck was like that, the replacement had two places for hoses while the original only had one. I forget how I did it (it wasn't hard), but I swapped the original top part with one opening with the two holer.

The elbows just pull off if you want to change them. 86-91 models don't use the elbow at all, just yank it off.

Mine didn't come off you had to cut it off. Under it was the metal nipple that was on the other PCV valve.

You get the little port, a plug for the little port, a big port, and you can see the bulge in the plastic body where the elbow is jammed on. Some hot water should help soften the plastic so it's easier to pull it off.

I found it's easier to just get a plain PCV valve without the plastic thing. My local Advance had a nifty little elbow-ended emissions tube doodad, so I got one and stuck it on.
