    EGR thread

    Checking my EGR.
    Got the valve off.
    Here are some pics.

These look pretty good in my unprofessional opinion.
Are there smaller chambers in the spacer?

      Thanks
No auto parts stores sell the EGR position sensor at their stores. I have Scott seeing if he can find one at the UPullit.
If not will order one online.

The ones in our area don't have them in the stores, but can be gotten online.

Since the weather cooled it has stopped the stalling.

            Update

OK, got my new EGR position sensor and it's installed.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I honestly feel that I have a significant increase in low end torque and better throttle response.

If you remember at ScottFest at the burnout event, I was unable to even squeak the 217/75/14s, even in an Ice Tea puddle

Last night I left a two foot patch with my 255/60/15s. And I wasn't really trying that hard.

            Is that possible?

If the EGR was opening from off-idle from a bad position sensor, then yes its possible.

Where is the EGR position sensor, and how do I change it? My car is a 19990. Is it on the EGR valve body itself? Maybe the thing right up front with the connector and the wires? I had assumed the EGR valve would have to be replaced as a single assembly. My Colony Park is giving a code 31 and a check engine light at light cruise as well as a rough idle so something is amiss with the EGR.

It is attached with three screws to the EGR itself.

I found pulling the whole thing easier than trying to get those three screws out.

Mine threw a 31 too. My idle was smooth, it would just randomly stall.

I have had no issues since I replaced mine.

Don't forget to get a new gasket.

I see they have the sensors at Rock Auto. Probably local as well. I checked the valve with a vacuum pump and the diaphram is OK, so I will replace the sensor and see what that does. Earlier this year the vacuum controller failed.

                      Thanks.

I had a vacuum controller go funny on my car too. Fixed it for a long while by spraying WD40 inside it to un-stick the piston. I did just recently install the brand new one though.

makes me wonder since Baby is doing this if it isnt the EGR sensor. i have an extra i can try out but i am wondering if this would make it act like crap with the spout plugged in...gonna have to give it a try. i will post if this helps mine since i never did mess with that.

                          update.....

i swapped out EGR sensors and reinstalled the spout connector since it wouldnt run right before. now it starts fine but it dies as soon as it tries to idle down. i am guessing TPS or the IAC??? any suggestions since i have changed these before?

your car is messed up man, if its still pitching that o2 code, and it runs whacky when cold (when the o2 input is ignored) i'd have to wonder if either a temp sensor is bad, or your car is actually running really lean. fuel pressure was ok, but if the injectors are clogged, it might explain things. Check the codes again, if its still got that code, and there are no leaks around the injector O rings or any other vacuum line, try stealing the whole fuel rail assy off your other car if it ran right. I hate to suggest sniping parts off other cars, but if it ran good, at least you know those parts are functional.
