      Mine puked oil from the rear of the intake from the day it was bought in 1986 till I replaced the seals in 2004. THAT was nasty. When I did the engine swap, my arms were black for a week. Only reason its basically clean underneath now is the fire burned a lot of it off. Thats probably actually why the transmission cooked, there was a lot of fuel under there.

        Probably similar to what had happened with this thing. On the original engine, there was goo ALL OVER, including the front of the heads, the rear of the heads, the top of the front cover, all over the block and oilpan ..... the newer engine is much cleaner, but the chassis never really got degreased.
