New intake! And a bunch of other goodies

Trading my 1991 MGM,for a 1992 bronco tomorrow. It has a 5.0,Lightning gt-40 tubular manifold(powdercoated glossy black-very sexy!)bbk fuel pressure regulator, bbk headers,FRPP 30#injectors,Mass air conversion, aode rebuilt 4 months old. I'll be taking most of the goodies off, then trading the bronco to my brother for a set of 4.10 gears. Picking up E7's,19#'ers,ho upper and lower tomorrow as well.(wont need the manifold so it will be for sale!)

Having a track day on 41 speedway on the 20th. I know with work I'll never get most of the stuff swapped over to my vic to run any decent numbers.
At the very least i would like to get the gt-40 on and run down the strip.I will be trading my 70mm tb for a 65mm bbk unit.
How will it run with just the manifold and 65mm tb?
Do you guys think it would just be a dog down low?
I"ll be posting pics soon..mmmim feelin good about finally turning some wrenches on my car!

a metal brush might scratch the aluminum... any good stiff bristled non-metal brush should do the trick.
Stay away from the 'purple' cleaner and other acid cleaners because it will react with the aluminum and make it look like crap. I was lucky and had access to a parts washer tank to use to clean mine up.

Is your vic just regular HO intake stuff now or a full HO swap? it should run a little better, depending what you've done already

The Lightning engine was a 351, not a 5.0 so unless thats just the upper, its not a Lightning intake.

The lightning intake is powder coated black,so couldnt i just dip it in a hot soapy bath to avoid damaging the coating?
right now it has an ho intake, bbk offroad h-pipe,dynomax headers, msd ignition, and timing is at 14. Looking at doing the heads and explorer cam with 1.7'rr's

              gt-40 is on!http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0011_large.jpg

having drivability problems though. The car lunges while cruising, sounds like backfires. The coolant temp sensor was fubar(fixed) tranny cable may have moved backwards,i go into gear 3mph sooner from 2nd to 3rd,(may have to increase the pressure to compensate)
battery terminal loose while driving(fixed) and in the one pick the vaccuum line going to the map may be real culprit of the problems.
*Should i hook it up to its own seperate vaccuum source?the line appers to be flexing to the point of reduced vacuum getting to it.

MAP needs to have it's own dedicated vacuum line from the manifold to the sensor. Won't run right without it.

this may be a stupid question, what is the stock fuel pressure of a 91 crown vic? same as a mustang? I'm at 39 psi with the vacuum line off the f.p.r.

                      yes, it's the same pressure.

What motor are you running? Hopefully a HO or an HO converted lopo. A GT40 intake on a lopo is not a good idea. And the 19lb injectors are a BIG nono on a lopo.

One guy did it and the car ran like crap. Definately a "I told you so" situation.

yeah stock cam/heads. sounds like a miss, other than that it runs better now. im still going into gear about 3-4 mph slower than usual,i might have to re-do the tv bracket again to readjust the pressure.
tpsis dead on at .94 volts/4.8 at wot.
Plugs look like they have seen better days, but tomorrow im picking up NGK's to replace the shitty autolites. Timing has been reset to 14 degrees, idle is alot better. No more popping out of the exhaust.
If the plugs dont fix the light-part throttle hesitation, then im gunna check out the TFI module.
heads are sitting right now, still in the process of getting the cam, lifters and springs so i can get everything done in the next month.

Bad idea. You should have read up on this stuff. Big waste of time and effort. You cannot run the 19lb injectors with the stock lopo ECU. It's gonna run too rich. That and the horrible flow problems you created with the GT40 on stock heads. The hesitation is the injectors. The intake isn't helping matters.

The only good thing is that now you know how to swap and intake.

hey man cant knock a guy for trying right? might have gotten carried away with it all then. if its over rich couldnt i just swap out the 160 stat for stock, bump the fp down a couple of psi?Or just run the lopo injectors at 44 psi? swapping intakes is easy, getting the old gaskets off is the pita!lol
