    Catalytic converter prices

How much should a driver's side catalytic converter cost? Shop by my house says $215, but I think this is a little excessive.

x pipe costs too much, and my inspection is due in October. Gotta get it now.

Catco 2.25" catted H pipe was still around $300 last I checked. Run that with Walker 43281 midpipes, 2.25" in / 2" out mufflers, and stock tailpipes, and it'll be great for a stock or mildly upgraded engine.

You can also get your self a off road x (I would find one used cheaper) check corral.net and than catco hi flow cats I have set for sale including headers too that you were looking at just put cats on mid pipes and than muffles and tails and your done. Total would be a small amount more than that of what your one side of cats would be. If your looking to build power just get the car inspected fail youll get an extra 45 days and just start getting parts for the car and should spread out the spending on parts. Heres an h a100 bux http://forums.corral.net/forums/show....php?t=1161857.... thats what i would do.

Two problems with catless H pipes: one, they're difficult to find in 2.25" pipe diameter (2.5" is excessive for a stock motor), and two, from the original post, I had presumed the OP's car is subject to emissions testing or at least a visual inspection that verifies the cosmetic presence of converters.

2.5" isnt excessive if you choke it back down with stock tailpipes like me

The material in the cat was so broken up that it was causing driveability issues. I weaseled the shop down to $199.45 installed. The car is my daily driver, I had to rectify the problem quickly as I put 50-75 miles on the car every day. But the X-pipe and header info was great, I'll be referring to that later. My thing for right now is I want to build the exhaust backwards. I want to do the tailpipes first, 2.5" from an Impala SS, a pair of Flowmaster 40's or Edelbrock Raptor mufflers, then the 2.5" x-pipe, then the headers. It's counterintuitive but it's the way I want to do it. The exhaust note is a major factor for me, I have put 4-5 exhaust setups on every car I've ever owned to try to get the right sound. I focus on things people never find important. Such as clean license plates. But I digest... My main concern was the price of the cat sounding quite high.

sonofabitch.... i was looking for something exactly like that. but shipping would be a bitch, and so would installation. I needed it fixed yesterday. But that would have been awesome.
