Forget my H pipe question, I found a shop local that'll sell me one for the Vic for like 129. Not great but not terrible considering it'd be more if I ordered the same pipe from RA and got it shipped.

No matter where I go, mufflers and tails are INSANELY expensive around here.

If I do this myself, which is what everyone is encouraging, $257.44 shipped for the H pipe and two tails from rockauto. I can try to find mufflers locally because it's expensive no matter where I go

So, you have no restrictions on taking converters off up there? What about no mufflers?
As I understand it......if you were to leave your cats alone....and just straight-pipe it with no mufflers....it would sound about the same as performance mufflers with no cats.

Would probably save you a lot of money.

If I were in your position and was going to have a shop do a custom system from the manifolds back.....I'd get some mustang shortie headers first.

It doesn't look like I'm gonna have a shop do anything, stuff is just too damned expensive.

        130 - H pipe
        100 - tails

what can I put in place of mufflers, just some straight pipe? I am not opposed to doing this at all. I have no idea how to do it, but I would like to learn.

Would pipe just clamp on like a muffler would? If not, how do I delete the muffler and put pipe in its place? Will it just be one pipe or several smaller ones since these are offset?

Well......perhaps you could just skip the tails and but some pre-bent elbows and do side exits like on GMGT?

Again, I am not opposed to this at all. Buying the H pipe and some pre-bent little pipes is a fuck of a lot cheaper than what anybody locally is quoting me, I've been calling around all day. The more places I call, the more money they're asking for Someone just show me how to do the side-exit exhaust and I'll order the H pipe as soon as I can.

I kinda wanted to do this at first but figured it would be too damned expensive. So what did he do, just put a bent pipe on either end of the H pipes and pointed them outward? This sounds simple enough for me to do

The trick will be finding pipe that's pre-bent to do what I want. I could go to the garage that fed me the BS about backpressure and etc and get them to bend some pipes up for me, because their labor is cheaper than anyone elses.

                      cool, thanks Dave.

Any reason why an H pipe with some bent pipe exiting before my rear wheels and no mufflers wouldn't work? I think that's the direction I'm leaning in...I didn't realize it could be so minimalistic

I am happy as a pig in shit that buying the H pipe and doing this stuff myself might actually work.

If I get the stock H pipe, is that 2" OD or ID? Just want to know what kind of side pipes should be bought/made up/whatever and how they would be fastened to the H pipe...assuming I should get something that'll fit over the end of the H pipe and clamp it on there, but if that's not how I should do it, just let me know.

What's holding the H pipe up? Hangers?

seriously, thanks for giving me the ideas. i would've left the single exhaust stock if i didn't know i could do it with so few parts. I think I am going to get the 90 Townie H pipe and go from there..I'll cut it short at the back end if I need to. From what I gather the only real difference is in length

Just make sure it's "legal" to do it that way. Around here, we can't have exhaust exit under a window that opens. GMGT is a 2-door, you have a 4-door.

Since you are skipping the mufflers, I doubt that TC H-pipe is too long.
(I think TC's use longer mufflers to make up for the extra wheelbase)
